Time to Fly! Join us on a journey to Albuquerque New Mexico for Balloons, Art and More! Tuesday, October 7 Round-Trip airfare from Newark (or LaGuardia) Liberty Airport to Albuquerque New Mexico. Motorcoach will meet bus and transport you to your hotel in Taos, NM Dinner is on your own. Wednesday, October 8 After a hotel breakfast, depart for a scenic railway tour from Antonito to Chama. This several hour ride will allow you to take in the beauty of mountains and hillsides and at the perfect time of year for fall foliage. Lunch is included today. Check in for a two night stay in Santa Fe. Thursday, October 9 After your hotel breakfast, depart for the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. By the mid-1920s, O’Keeffe was recognized as one of America’s most important and successful artists, known for her paintings of New York skyscrapers—an essentially American symbol of modernity—as well as her equally radical depictions of flowers. In the summer of 1929, O’Keeffe made the first of many trips to northern New Mexico. The stark landscape and Native American and Hispanic cultures of the region inspired a new direction in O’Keeffe’s art. MoCNA is at the forefront of contemporary Native art presentation and strives to be flexible, foresighted, and risk-taking in its exhibitions and programs. MoCNA is located in the heart of downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. Free Time The Mercado a consortium of small shopkeepers from around the globe that share one big marketplace and location. The Mercado merchants proudly display wares from their native lands-from Guatemala to Peru, from South Asia to Thailand, from Mexico to Nepal and beyond. Each “shop” is separately owned and operated. Jackalope is proud to partner with these friendly and earnest people. Each vendor adds color and a vibrant ethnic stamp. Come pay them a visit, bid them a warm hello and you will be as delighted with them as with their beautiful handicrafts and ethnic pieces. Dinner at Tomasita's Restaurant. Proudly serving classic Northern New Mexican food and margaritas for over 40 years, Tomasita’s is regularly considered the best New Mexican Restaurant by locals and national media. Locally owned and operated, over the years Tomasita’s has stayed true to our traditional recipes and we take pride in our locally-sourced quality ingredients, friendly fast service and great margaritas including the original Swirl! Friday, October 10 After your hotel breakfast, depart for the Cultural Center Tour and learn about Pueblo culture from ancient times to the present in the museum and exhibition galleries. Tour the collection of murals by Pueblo artists for an inspiring and personal experience. Enjoy lunch on your own at the Indian Pueblo Kitchen, an innovative teaching kitchen and restaurant centered around Indigenous foods, education and exploration. Shop at the Indian Pueblo Store for traditional and contemporary jewelry, pottery, rugs, and more from award‐winning, internationally renowned artists as well as emerging talents. You may also shop for authentic Native American art directly from many talented artists in the courtyard. Overnight in Albuquerque for two nights.
