This afternoon, enjoy a visit to Patsy Cline's Historic Home in Winchester, VA. Patsy resided here from 1948-53, longer than any other house associated with her in the Winchester and Nashville areas, and she returned to it intermittently until her singing career began in 1957. Finish up your Winchester touring with a guided tour of the area. Dinner at a local Restaurant. After breakfast the following day we will head to NC. Today you will tour the Andy Griffith Museum, a place for both learning about and celebrating Andy Griffith, who was born in Mount Airy in 1926. Home of the single largest collection of artifacts and memorabilia related to Andy Griffith, the museum features hundreds of Andy's life and career in the theater, film, and music. Dinner at a local Restaurant. Following dinner, enjoy a lecture by Neal Brower on The Andy Griffith Show. Professor Brower’s lectures go deep into an episode of “The Andy Griffith Show.” He shares back stories, production techniques, and details that shine a new light on a classic episode. Your next two nights will be spent in Mount Airy, NC. The next days visit to “Mayberry” also includes a tour in a Squad Car. Where else can you ride in Barney’s car except Mayberry? Cruise on over to Andy’s Homeplace then ride in Mayberry style down Main Street past Floyd’s Barber Shop and Snappy Lunch. You’ll cruise by other Mayberry attractions like The Andy Griffith Playhouse, The Old Jail and the Visitors Center – Home of the Andy Griffith Museum. While at Wally’s don’t miss the best photo opportunity of the day – your photo in front of the Squad Car, a photo that says Mayberry like nowhere else. Lunch will be enjoyed at Snappy's. While Snappy's is well-known for its delicious food, they are also just as famous for providing friendly hospitality to everyone who comes through the doors. Stop by and have lunch and get a glimpse of yesteryear. Next on the agenda… a wine tasting at a local vineyard in the foothills of the Blue-Ridge Mountains. Your dinner is included tonight with a special after-dinner entertainer. An Evening with John Floyd: The Mouth of Mayberry “John Floyd, known as ‘The Mouth of Mayberry,’ is a seasoned comedian who has entertained folks in all 50 states, as well as on the high seas,” the arts council said in announcing the series. The last day you will travel home with reminiscence of yesteryear.
